We are so pleased to officially share Huston & Company’s newest dining table design, the Flanagan Farm Table. Originally designed for a partnership with The Barn at Flanagan Farm, a wedding and events venue set on pastoral Maine farmland, our handcrafted Flanagan Farm Table is an updated take on a farmhouse table. The profile’s strong radius, smooth trestle base, and tulip edge lend to a modern design while retaining a sense of softness and warmth.
Throughout the summer of 2020, we worked closely with Mike & Essie Haimes, the owners of The Barn at Flanagan Farm who also operate The Wedding Barns of Maine, on developing a design for a farmhouse trestle-style table they could offer as rentals to the couples who get married at Flanagan Farm.
Given that Mike & Essie were most inspired by the lines of our Strawbridge Table and the modern sensibility of the Karu Table, we were able to create a variety of 3-D renderings for them to consider as they narrowed down which design elements they thought would complement their brand and fit their aesthetic. Together, we landed on the silhouette of the Flanagan Farm Table.
The design allowed for us to experiment with the joinery to allow for swooping transitions. By using forms that closely resemble puzzle pieces that perfectly fit together, we were able to create strong joinery that allowed us enough material to carve out the shape of the leg. The bottom radius on the tabletop was inspired by the base’s smooth lines and allows for a seamless transition between the two with an elegant and refined look.
As is always the case with our dining tables, the size and seating capacity of the Flanagan Farm Table can be customized to suit individual needs.
