Earlier this spring we delivered a custom desk to a longtime client of ours in Cape Elizabeth. The family is currently renovating different parts of their home, working closely with both Caleb Johnson Studio & Wright Ryan. We’ve designed and built furniture for this family before, so we were thrilled when they approached us about another custom project.
To complement the custom cabinetry in their almost-finished kitchen, the clients had the team at Caleb Johnson assist in coming up with the plans for a new desk for their home office. No detail was overlooked in the design or build process and the end result is something of which we are incredibly proud. The desk’s base is made of quarter-sawn ash, while the top is constructed of quater-sawn walnut in an angled veneered pattern with a solid wood frame. The 1/2 inch reveal between the top and the base is painted a dark gray, a perfect contrast to the wood choices.
While on-site installing and shooting the desk, we checked in on the custom white oak side tables and coffee table we built for the family several years ago. It’s always a privilege to work closely with clients on a custom design, but we think having the chance to keep doing so is a true honor and one of the highest forms of praise we can receive as furniture makers.
