In the Shop

We’ll keep it simple this week. No digging through archival boxes of photos, no reminiscing about beginnings; just some plain old ‘whatter you up to’ updates.

The workshop is very busy this spring. We had a fairly slow winter, but someone stepped on the gas about two months ago and we’ve been chasing the checkered flag ever since. We are currently working with a 12-week lead time, which is the longest lead time we’ve had in several years. The work isn’t relegated to one side of our business: both residential and academic/library are on high octane.

Furniture makers at Huston and Company hustle in the workshop

In the shop now and over the next few weeks we have a great mix of projects:

  • 2 pedestal tables for a local inn
  • end panels and tops for a library in MA
  • large custom end chests for a residential client
  • reception desks for an independent school in RI
  • custom bed for a client moving back to ME
  • display case for UPENN
  • custom oak dining table for a residential client in MA

And, of course the ongoing project of study carrels for Princeton.

Our worklist continues on through the remainder of the summer with bedroom closets, coffee tables, reference desk, Gates style dining table and chairs, Willard Square Extension table, oval extension table and more. And again, Princeton carrels.

And the showroom is busy too. Along with working with all of these customers, and processing orders, arranging deliveries, etc, we are in the process of planning a few events: a B-to-B breakfast here at the showroom in mid June, our show booth at the Maine Home + Design Show at the end of June and our 25thAnniversary Party in July. Stay tuned.

We also have a few of our Anniversary Edition Collins Hall Tables still available here at the showroom, and are taking orders for our Anniversary Edition Standing Mirror

The showroom is open – we’d love to have you stop in for a visit!
