This is called a Scrumpdiddlyumptious Bar

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate.
Did you know that when you order furniture from Huston & Company, whether it’s for your home, your office, or your library or school, we send you a big, beautiful brick of solid chocolate after delivery?

True story. We know you have lots of choices for your furniture. We also enjoy getting to know our customers and are grateful for the new relationships and friendships we gain when you choose us. The chocolate is our way of saying thank you.

Usually a month or two after your furniture is delivered, once you’ve had a chance to live and work with it for a bit, we’ll call you to check in and be sure everything is working out as planned, to see if you have any questions or concerns. As soon as we know everything is okay and you’re happy with your purchase, we send you one of these…

Our chocolates are about 5 oz of solid, dark chocolate. They are made exclusively for us by Haven’s Candies. Haven’s was founded in 1915 by Herbert Haven. They handcraft their chocolates, taffies, and many of their other candies at their workshop in Westbrook, Maine. They have two retail stores: one in Portland and one in Scarborough.

We had the pleasure of touring their workshop recently and it is an outing I highly recommend if you have the chance. Our tour guide, Andy Charles, owner and President of Haven’s, is so passionate and so enthusiastic about his candy. He is so proud of his staff. He reminds us of ourselves as we walk visitors through our own workshop. We order our chocolates with the help of Mary Stone, the Sales and Operations Coordinator, who is a delight. When we first talked to Andy and Mary about our custom chocolates, we knew we were in the right place, working with the right people. It was immediately obvious to us that their relationships with their customers are as important to them as ours are to us. It was clear that we’d be taken care of, we’d receive their best work, we’d be able to thank our customers with a wonderful treat, and we’d made some new friends.

I have eight chocolates packaged up and ready for the post office today. They are going to customers and friends; four in Maine, three in New Jersey, one in New York. May they all enjoy their treats.
